Isla Paradiso Fixed Version

I’ve been on a Sims 3 kick lately and anyone who’s ever played in Isla Paradiso knows first-hand this world is an unplayable mess. There’s lots of tutorials floating around about how to fix it and an empty version of Isla Paradiso you can download to cut down on the laggy mess this world causes. I don’t want an empty world, though. I want a cleaned up version that still has Sims to interact with.

I went about fixing up my Isla Paradiso according to Tatiana’s recommendations at Sims Community and figured I’d toss it up on my blog, mostly so I have a backup that can’t get lost on my computer but also to save other people some time getting this world to function.

So here’s my fixed up version of Isla Paradiso for your convenience.

Changes Made

  • Palm trees between Port Primavera and Port Pescado have been removed. They overlapped with the road and caused routing failures.
  • Fencing around palm trees in the center of the Spanish resort’s pool have been removed. The fencing would cause Sims to route fail trying to look at something there (possibly the lights?)
  • Hobart’s Hideaway resort has been completely bulldozed. The entire lot is a lag fest.
  • The Medina house has been edited to fix routing issues. The platform beside the top of the stairs has been fenced off and the spiral staircase and garage door have been removed.
  • The Ichtaca house has been edited to fix routing issues. All spiral staircases have been removed and all objects on the upper floors have been deleted. The family can function fine on the lower floors of the house and the spiral stairs were causing routing failures. The rec room has been converted into a bedroom to accommodate the family on the first two floors.
  • The Collins house has been edited to fix routing issues. The ladder going to the very top floor has been removed and all objects on the upper floor have been deleted. The family can function fine without accessing this floor.
  • All empty houseboats have been completely bulldozed. Houseboats getting stuck in unroutable channels is a recipe for disaster.
  • All inhabited houseboats have had their steering wheels destroyed. There is no reason for them to be moving their houseboats. They just get stuck in stupid places and create a lag fest.
  • The Scott family has been completely annihilated and their houseboat has been bulldozed. This family and their home was corrupted.

The following are things I did not do in the interest of not ruining anyone’s gameplay in case they really want to play with these things but that I highly recommend doing as soon as you load into the game with your family.

  • Use the cheat “testingcheatsenabled true” followed by the cheat “DiscoverAllUnchartedIslands” to instantly unlock all the hidden islands. The clouds covering them can lag up your game pretty bad.
  • Go into the game options and disable the spawning of pets and horses. The game loves to put horses on houseboats and do other dumb things with the stray animals. They get stuck absolutely everywhere.
  • I did actually do a quick check to make sure there were not already stray animals in the world but I still recommend you do another check as soon as you start playing this world after disabling strays in the options. If there are any wild or stray animals, annihilate them with the NRaas Master Controller mod.

Install Instructions

Download and unzip the file, then pop the Isla Paradiso FIXED.sims3 folder into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Saves

I recommend making a copy of the folder and storing it somewhere else on your computer so you always have this default version you can pop into your Saves folder and play whenever you want to start a new save in this world. It will save you the hassle of redownloading it all the time.

Thanks so much Snarky Witch, this is such a beautiful expansion and it was a shame it was so cursed and unplayable. Very kind of you to make this available, x

You’re very welcome! I hope you find this version of the world performs better than the original.
